About the Instinct and Intuition Class

The current class is Wednesday Evenings at the Continuum Studio, 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Meditation is one of the best, most reliable ways ever discovered to make a practical improvement in the quality of your life and your health. The purpose of this workshop is to help you get into a meditation practice that truly suits your individuality, so that you want to meditate each day. And therefore you will be able to approach each day with greater relaxation and alertness.

We all get many signals in each moment, from all areas of our lives. From our hearts and heads and bodies. To meditate, we do not need to block anything out; on the contrary, we open our attention and tune in to it all. In this way, we learn a balanced, inclusive peace.

The power source for meditation is your passion for life, and your desire to be at your best. The disciplines of meditation are all in the service of this power.

You will learn ways to strengthen your personal boundaries and sharpen your intuition, so that you can enjoy being safer, because you are more perceptive and relaxed as you move through your day. Meditation is a process of being in closer touch with reality and adapting. The more attuned we are, the more quickly we can shift between open and closed, resting and active, relaxed and tense, working and resting.

You will discover exciting and soothing ways to play with:

– Your relationship with openness and boundaries.
– The balance of sensitivity and strength.
– Strong boundaries are needed to live in Los Angeles. Learn how to have vibrant boundaries that screen out the static.

In life, the opposites go together. For example, in the course of a day, we need to spend hours in deep sleep and in wide-awake alertness. We need both. We also need transcendence, where we immerse ourselves in the delicious beauty of life and relax totally, and strong boundaries. Transcendence and boundaries go together just like deep sleep and being awake. Each one adds to the other.

We have deep
cravings to experience the relaxation and bliss of transcendence, and the intensity of being our unique self. There is no drug, no alcohol, that can or should be our gateway to transcendence or boundaries. This is what meditation is for. This is why so many of the earliest books in the world were about meditation, and why it is the 11th Step of 12 Step Programs.

In the class, we shift every few minutes between different types of meditations such as standing, moving, sitting, and lying down. In-between we discuss your experiences. It's fast-moving and you don't have to worry about restlessness.

We go way beyond the simplistic and primitive notions of the chakra system and the energy body that are so prevalent today into living, breathing information you sense directly and can utilize in your daily life.

Many of the energy sensing exercises we do last 15 seconds to 90 seconds. In other words, we move at real-life speed, to train you to sense, adapt, rest, heal, and protect yourself in real time. Much of what we do is great fun and a combination of instincts:

playing
hunting
tracking
homing
grooming
exploring
orienting
boundary sensing
boundary patrolling
resting
healing
communicating

Instinctive meditation is surprising in that we work the opposites. If we do exercises that open the energy centers, we balance that with chakra
closing exercises. If your energy sensors are too open, moving around in a city is irritating, and being around people is tiring. Opening your chakras is like opening the pupils of your eyes – good for when it is dark, but makes your eyes hurt in the light. What we want in life is fast adaptation, not a static condition of being open or closed.

The purposes of these classes is to give you a space to bring your inner spiritual part into cooperation with your everyday working self, so that you can adapt rapidly to your life as it is, and evolve your life as you want it to be. I want you to emerge from each class rejuvenated, perceptive, clear, and strongly oriented toward your own direction.

The class members tend to be a mix of total beginners, who have never meditated before; people who have flirted with meditation from time to time; and highly experienced and sophisticated practitioners of meditation and other disciplines. Level of experience does not matter because the exercises we do work on the fine structure of your individuality, bringing out your inner wisdom and your instincts. In this, we are all beginners in every new second of life.
